Summer Cohort Ungraded Assignments
|
As a part of the summer cohort, I was in a group with three other people. We called ourselves Theory of Second Best. Many of our assignments were group assignments, and are also posted on our group's website. You can click on the button to the right to go to our website.

Just Shoot Me!
Group Introduction Poster
Once groups were established, we had to come up with a group name and poster that introduces us. Our group chose the name Theory of Second Best. This name had a few different meanings for us. First, all four of us work at the secondary level, so we knew we wanted that as a part of our name. We found the term Theory of Second Best online, which is an economics term. We modified the definition to fit our needs, as "incorporating technology in a flexible and creative way in education".
Physics Ball Drop Videos
|
This video was created to see where the ball would land if it was dropped while you were standing stil, walking, and running. This activity gave us practice editing videos, as well as looking at discovering the answers to questions on our own (to test our preconceptions).

There once was a tech class at State
Who learn’d creativity great They focused on mind And how to be kind To kids who learn at any rate |
In class we were discussing creativity and incorporating creative writing into the content. This is a little poem our group cam up with about our time at MSU.

Repurposing Web 2.0 Tools
Each group chose a set of web 2.0 tools from the Cool Tools for Schools Wiki and created our own resource page to share with the class. My group chose drawing tools, and I specifically chose the program Tagxedo (that's what I used to create the image to the left). On the wiki, you will find a description of each of the chosen tools, as well as some strengths and weaknesses and examples of what can be created.

Leadership Tensions
We used Pixlr to layer images that represented tensions in education. My image represents the in vs. out crowd.

Storify
We were introduced to Storify, which is a website that can create a "story" of various social media entries. Each group was assigned two days that we needed to Storify. Our group was assigned days 2 and 7.

MAET Daily Reflection
Every group collaborated to complete this google doc, summarizing each day of the face-to-face portion of the class.
